Johannes Brahms’ Violin Concerto, which he wrote for his friend Joseph Joachim, heard since the day of its premiere on the standard concert repertoire.

Never before has there been a scientifically-practical-critical edition of this work.

For this purpose, Clive Brown has’ used autograph score and solo part and piano reduction its own, but also Brahms Brahms not only personal copies of the Ersteditionen score and orchestral parts. This new edition provides an insight into the genesis of the work, as well as the cooperation between Brahms and Joachim. The Critical Report (in English) commented any discrepancies in the sources.

The edition of Brahms’ Piano contains an original Urtext violin part and a second part with fingering and bowing marks of Joseph Joachim, also a booklet with cadenzas by Joachim and Carl Halir, Hugo Heermann, Leopold Auer and Ferruccio Busoni.

A Preface (Ger. / Eng.) With notes on performance practice and a critical commentary complete the present new edition.
