Instrument Trial Policy

The Evergreen Workshop offers a one-week trial period for instruments and bows. This allows our customers to try an instrument or bow in a variety of settings and get valuable feedback from friends, teachers, and colleagues.

Violins, violas, cellos, and bows are available to be taken out from our shop, or shipped to the customer (some exceptions apply). Instrument approval allows you to try up to 2 violins, 2 violas, or 1 cello, and 4 bows for a 7-day trial period, shipped anywhere in the continental U.S. Bows over $250, violins and violas over $1000, and cellos over $2,000 are all eligible.

Our shipments include a prepaid return label for easy returns. There is a $25 fee to select, process, and ship bow trials, $45 for violin or viola trials, and $120 for cellos. (Shipping charges may be higher to Alaska and Hawaii). Please contact us to inquire about shipping rates to destinations outside the continental U.S. Violins, violas, cellos and bows are carefully packed in a well-padded hard case, placed in a carton and suspended in packing material.

Instruments lost, damaged, stolen or destroyed during shipping or while in the customer’s possession and which were not insured by the customer are then considered to be the customer’s loss and payment in full is expected for the items affected. Please examine any goods shipped by us to be sure you have received them in good condition. Please notify us immediately if you suspect that they have suffered any damage en route to you.

Completion of a trial contract is required prior to the trial period. Permanent address, phone number(s), school address (if applicable), driver’s license and/or social security numbers, credit card number and email address are necessary. The trial shipment consists of items sent to you as a deferred-billing sale. While all items are billed on an open-account basis when they are shipped, customers will only be charged for those items which they keep and which have not been received by The Evergreen Workshop by the end of the trial period. Any merchandise on trial not returned within 14 days, in its original condition, will be charged to your credit card.

The return date is calculated to allow for the 7-day trial period plus shipping times to and from our workshop. Extensions of the return date may be possible. Please contact us by phone or e-mail to make arrangements. Invoices and all other appropriate sale documents will be sent to you after a purchase has been finalized.
